En 1944 y 1945 el movimiento sindical jugó un ambiguo papel en relación con Perón, tratando de preservar sus conquistas sin comprometerse con el discutido jefe militar. Pero en las jornadas de octubre, la necesidad de optar llegó con la irresistible fuerza de los hechos y la CGT debió decidirse por la causa del derrocado líder.
